The Obtain or Renew UST Permit task is part of the Underground Storage Tank compliance program.
Underground Storage Tank (UST) systems are regulated by the local Unified Program Agency (UPA). If you do not have a permit for your UST, contact the agency immediately to find out what the process is for obtaining a UST permit. At a minimum, you will be required to complete all of the elements of the California Environmental Reporting System that pertains to hazardous materials facilities and USTs. Some UPAs issue a single permit for any facility that is subject to the UPAs jurisdiction. Others require a separate UST permit.
If you already have a UST permit but it has expired, you should follow the general steps for permit renewal.
